Slē
Slē is a great example of a passion-driven concept — originally created as part of a #weeklydesignchallenge. After receiving wide appreciation, I decided to further develop it independently.
The combination of smooth surfaces, precise thickness, and the high durability of plywood made it the ideal multifunctional material for this project.
Slē draws inspiration from bent plywood structures and joints, emphasizing pure function while maintaining a dynamic, flowing form. The tilted frame is specifically designed for use on slopes, offering both comfortable seating and easy maneuverability.
Its distinctive “double arch” construction was engineered with structural integrity in mind, ensuring durability under repeated stress during sledging. My goal was to use traditional, widely accessible materials commonly found in sled-using communities.
The prototype of Slē is owned by the Museum of Applied Arts as part of the Contemporary Design Collection.
